It sounds like an instrument when you use it, with whatever is inside. I used it on tethering every single camping item I had and it was super easy. I also did not worry that I was going to smash my fingers to pieces as the rubberized outer shell provides a soft yet tough cushion.
I bought this mallet as my original one (not this type) broke as soon as i started using stronger pegs. This one added a bit more ooomph to the process and also stood up to the hard ground and stronger pegs. Very happy with this purchase.
Hammer more than sufficient for any need, very good to travel with...specially camping...
Comfortable grip, stores easily. Thought it would be a bit heavier but fine for most pegs
