It's no joke when it comes to cheap winter snow boots this season

Camping World warns of the perils of buying cheap snow boots if you want to keep warm and dry this winter.

With forecasters warning of icy colds winds from the arctic bringing in an exceptionally cold winter to the UK this year, it is being advised that there may be record levels of snowfall early in the season and continuing throughout the winter.

Never has it been a truer statement that you get what you pay for with snow boots and if you buy cheap, you do end up buying twice. "Much better to shop around", says Camping World's Michael Cloake, "to find a pair of quality boots that suit you and will last for years". He goes on to point out some obvious differences to look for: "good quality boots will use natural materials like leather uppers and wool linings. These natural materials provide a greater degree of comfort, insulation and breathability meaning your feet will get less sweaty and can be worn longer. Couple this with the fact that natural materials will generally last longer than plastic and polyester boots, and there is a good argument for buying a good boot at £120 that will last you 5 years or more, rather than spending £40 a year on a cheap pair that might just last the season".

Cheaper snow boots and the ones found in the bargain basement section of shops on the high street often lack good enough grip and ankle support, making them potentially quite dangerous to use on snowy or icy surfaces. A good solid ankle support is key to a quality boot so your ankle is protected when you inevitably slip on the ice.

Camping World sell a good range of snow boots from modestly priced Trespass snow boots which are a good quality boot for those looking for a no bells and whistles economical boot, all the way to top notch quality Olang snow boots that offer far more practical features than many other styles on the market.

As well as producing a superb range of designer boots, Olang fit many with their patented OC System which offer retractable ice studs - this versatile feature means you have exceptional grip when you need it - even on sheet ice - but you can fold the studs away for wearing indoors, on easily damaged surfaces or simply when not needed. Added to the fact that Olang use natural materials like leather and virgin wool on nearly all of their boots means long-lasting, high quality footwear that is proven to provide warm and secure comfort for years.

Camping World also stock a full range of thermal socks, base layer thermals and winter accessories. For security in icy conditions, boots without the OC retractable ice stud system can be fitted with a cheap set of removable ice grip spikes which give excellent traction when you need it and are small enough to be stored in the car or your bag.
