Kampa Dometic Touring AIR VW Driveaway Motorhome Awning 2020 From  £899.99

We bought this awning to fit on our 2009 model VW T5. It's extremely easy to put up and could be done by one person if necessary. I put up with my 13-year-old daughter on one trip which is how easy it is to do. It sleeps four comfortably and the darkened bedrooms are definitely beneficial. Great storage pockets within and plenty of velcro loops too which we always find handy for hanging washbags or coats.

The size of the porch is great and is why we opted for this awning over a Vango model. The added benefit was the Kampa Hayling 4 Air Pro Vestibules 2019 to add some extra space and doors onto the front of the porch. This minimises the impact of wet weather and wind and helps keep the main tent a little warmer too. I would definitely recommend adding this to anyone buying this awning as it allows for a little extra security too.

The only comment would be that we didn't have a rail on the side of our van prior to getting this and we had watched videos showing putting the guide ropes over the van as sufficient enough, it works, but it's not perfect. We then added roof bars to use the velcro fastening but found we could only secure the middle section of velcro and then use the guide ropes. This means there is then a gap between the awning and the van so water can come through if it rains. We had this up in a heavy downpour and the amount of rain that came through was minimal so not massively detrimental. However, we've now bought a rail for the van so I'm sure that will make it so we make the most of being able to drive away on day trips with ease.

Bought this awning because it had more add ons than others at similar price,
We use it as a living area as sleep in van, but it does come with a 4 birth iner tent, when sleeping compartment is up living area is reduced a lot, but with the extentions on it makes a big difference.

Overall this is a great awning, and I love the inflatable poles! I’m 75, and put this up on my own with no problem until it came to attaching to the van. My van is high but short wheelbase and has no gutter or rail, so I was relying on the guys over the top. These are almost too far apart on my van, and they could do with being another half metre longer. An extra one in the middle would be good too, and straps would be better than cord. I’m going to have to figure out another way to fix it to the van. We have had all sorts of weather this week though, and it has been great having so much space.
