Yes, camping is well and truly back on! We may not be fully back to normal yet, but we’re getting there - and Summer is nearly upon us.
We know that so many of you are itching to get back out there - if you haven’t already - but a lot of you might be trying out a camping staycation for the first time.
If that’s the case - don’t worry! We’ve put together a comprehensive guide for all of the essentials that you need to get ready, and we’ve included some of our bestsellers, too!
Tents:
What kind of tent you want depends on several factors.
How many people are going?: We offer tents small enough for a single backpacker, all the way up to ones big enough for seven or more people - plus, every size in between. Where are you going? What with the weather be like?: Some tents are better than others depending on the weather. You can always buy coolers and fans, but in the warmer weather you may want a more lightweight tent. Alternatively, if the forecast has predicted rain, or you're planning on going when the temperatures are a little cooler, you'll want to keep an eye out for the thickness of the tent and its weatherproofing. In the case of rain, you'll want to look for the hydrostatic head statistics in the description of the tent: this is basically how waterproof a fabric is. A good example is one of our bestselling Outwell tents, seen below; the Avondale 5PA Air Tent. In its description, it lists its "durable storm webbing", how it has a "durable, waterproof, sewn-in polyethylene groundsheet" and a hydrostatic head of 4000.
Others things like, is the groundsheet built-in or will you need to buy one? Will you need extra shelter, like a tarp? These things will be more of a consideration after you've chosen your tent. However, it's important to check for these kind of things before you buy, especially if you're on a budget.
Sleeping Arrangements:
