Excellent alternative to fixed rails. I have a Transit Custom and it worked well. Beware that its unlikely the magnets will all be facing the right way. We had to unpick the stitching and flip one magnet over. Easy enough but thats why some reviews are poor, they didn't fix the magnets. Love being able to drop the magnet off to drive away from the tent. No faffing in the rain!
I was looking at the options for attaching a drive away awning and the magnetic Band connector appeares to tick the boxes. . Just attach to the awning using the provided double ended figure of eight channels and drop the magnetic band onto the roof. Out T4 Transporter is a good height compared to the Outwell awning and the connection between the van and tent appears to be a good fit. Recommendations from others reviews say a secondary fixing is good in strong wings, we have a roof bar so its a simple matter of attaching the guy lines. . A few tabs along teh band would not have gone a miss - something I may retro fit if I feel is necessary - time will tell The Outwell magnetic band is well made and looks like its going to stand up to regular use it will be subject to.
Having read many reviews I was dubious about buying this product but as the limpet system had failed dismally I bought it. The magnets are directional and need to be placed on the van the correct way round, it is obvious when you try them. Also one of the magnets in our strip was the wrong way round in its casing, it was a simple matter to undo the end stitching and turn the magnet round and re stitch the cover this should not have been necessary but made sure the strip worked. It held the awning well despite the gentle gusts of wind.
Fits nicely onto our T4 with an Outwell Daytona awning but will definitely need to be guy'ed or tied down to stand a strong wind. Good for providing a quick water tight seal and great for fair weather use.
