The growing number of enthusiasts dedicated to exploring the countryside from a versatile campervan and smaller motorhome, like a panel van conversion, will welcome the latest Outwell® drive-away awnings and universal canopy released this year by the award-winning Scandinavian outdoor brand, Outwell.

Its Touring and Crusing Collections of poled drive-away awnings are already recognised for their superlative quality and chic looks that stand out from the crowd. And the many Outwell features and ease of use ensure the extra living and bedroom space provided enhances the enjoyment of adventures on the open road.

The unique styles, innovative features and attention to detail define these traditional pole drive-away awnings and the speed and simplicity of erection they bring are also appreciated by drivers looking for temporary shelter when attending events or enjoying outdoor activities with friends and family from a utility vehicle.

All awnings can be left freestanding, allowing the vehicle to be used for daily trips out. All standard models have an attachment height of 180cm–220cm while Tall options increase this to 240cm-290cm.

Stability and safety are key factors to development and all drive-away collections feature the Outwell Wind Stabilizer System. Testing takes place at the Outwell in-house test facilities to ensure that, if correctly erected, awnings will withstand storms and driven rain. Touring drive-away awnings will withstand up to a Force 9 gale while Crusing awnings withstand Force 8 winds.

The Touring Collection comprises the new Ocean Road (pictured above left) that joins the updated Country Road (pictured left) and Country Road Tall (pictured below). All are made from Outtex 4000 – a specially commissioned fabric with a class-leading 4,000mm hydrostatic head. And all use a combination of steel leg and Duratec roof poles for enhanced strength and stability while reducing weight, storage space and effort required during erection.

These drive-away awnings are packed full of outstanding examples of Outwell tent innovation and features include:

The latest Easy Access System with mesh panels is used for both the main door and Link Access Zone System. These D-shaped doors provide unobstructed access and bug-free ventilation options with front doors protected by Rain Safe porch. Large tinted windows with zip-close curtains are now supplied throughout to tailor privacy and provide UV-protection while maintaining great views out.

The Ocean Road heralds a new type of drive-away awning that offers the versatility of a fiveberth family tent when not being used with a campervan, or if used with a van or MPV. It incorporates a removable two bedroom inner tent and Universal Connection System – a special roof that allows either of the large roll-up side panels to act as the connecting door when attached to the vehicle.

The Crusing Collection provides a choice of simpler designs and comprises Darlington (pictured left), Daytona, Daytona Tall and the new Crusing Canopy. All feature Duratec fibreglass poles, Outtex 3000 polyester and the new Link Access Zone System to ensure optimum performance. The simple domeshape Daytona is perfect for multiple applications ranging from camping to outdoor activities to events and features an optional inner tent if required. The larger Darlington provides even more space if needed in an easyto-pitch tunnel design.

The new Crusing Canopy (pictured right) provides a simple, quick fixed shelter perfect for brief breaks, outdoor activities and stopovers. While especially useful for daily use for campervans, vans and MPVs where the design is perfect to shade entry and sitting area from sun and light rain, it can also play a part with touring caravanners with an attachment height of 180cm-330cm. A single steel pole maximises headroom and maintains stability in windy conditions. Optional Inlayzzz bedroom rug, footprint and carpet are available in all drive-away awnings for enhanced protection and comfort.
